Axial Weld

Axial welds are weld seams located parallel to the rotation axis of the welded part. In case of axial welds the shrinkage stresses occurring during weld pool cooling are subject to reduced shrinkage, which leads to high internal stresses in the component. Depending on the material cracks may occur. Therefore, a radial weld should be preferred if the design allows for it.
