Stigmatizing

The stigmator is used for the correction of an astigmatism (aberrations) of the electron beam. An elliptically deformed beam, for example, would cause different welding results when being deflected in x or y direction. Thus, astigmatism correction is an important process for ensuring the repeatability of welding results. (adjustment)
