Front Bearing Housing of Trent Engine – Electron Beam Welding in Highest Perfection

For many years, aerospace applications are the domain of the electron beam. The universal large chamber system K640 is used for welding titanium components of Trent engines. At a work vacuum of 7 x 10-4mbar the components can be moved relative to the beam by means of a 5-axes manipulator. Both the mechanical and the beam parameters of the system meet the high requirements of the industry standards.
Due to the application of automatic seam tracking the system is able to weld the components fully automatically.
