Fully Automatic Electron Beam System for Welding Camshafts

Besides other methods, weight reductions in high performance engines are achieved by light camshafts manufactured by using state-of-the-art procedures. The electron beam welding work required at the vanos head is performed in a distortion low manner ensuring a high weld seam quality and a high repeatability. Already in the conception stage, a pro-beam development, the "automatic beam positioning", was used for joint detection. This technology offers high precision, quality and repeatability for the welding process.
