Copper moulds for the steel industry

The metal producing industry utilises components such as moulds, water tanks, or burner boxes requiring intensive cooling, which are therefore made from copper or copper chromium zirconium (CuCrZr) alloys. These units can be fabricated using electron beam welding without preheating to produce a weld depth of 60 mm. The resulting strength of the copper is maintained between 80 and 90% and the thermal and electric conductivity preserved at 100%. Items with holes and cooling channels can be produced before welding easily and inexpensively before being closed with the electron beam. You can create complex structures with highly efficient integrated cooling system parts. For this application electron beam welding provides a simple and high-quality alternative to complicated, lengthy, and expensive manufacturing "from the solid.
